Pokini Kagura
A downloadable game for Windows
I want to make a stylish action game with wildly expressive movement (a.k.a. shmovement). This is my initial test to explore the core movement mechanics.
If you like this project and want to see more of it: consider supporting me on Fanbox, Patreon, or simply following me on Twitter.
Combat abilities are only vaguely roughed out at the moment, so don't expect much there (yet).
Lots of known minor visual bugs, but nothing game breaking as far as I know. Please report any issues you encounter.
Keyboard and mouse is technically supported, but the key bindings don't show up on the UI (yet). If you're absolutely set on using a keyboard instead of a controller:
[Back] / Tab = Start/Skip Cutscene/Restart Level
[Left Analog] / WASD = Movement
[Right Analog] / Mouse / IJKL = Camera
[RB] / Left Shift = Dodge/Dash (Hold)
[LB] / Left Ctrl / E = Grab / Rail Grind
[A] / Space = Jump
[Start] /Esc = Pause/Unpause
This game uses a royalty free music track as a placeholder. Check it out, the musicians are pretty cool:
Track: Netrum & Halvorsen - Phoenix [NCS10 Release]

me gusta la prota; pero debo decir que el juego no anda bien en mi pc, intel 4600
Gracias. Haré todo lo posible para optimizar el rendimiento del software, pero no puedo garantizar que funcione en todos los PC.
This game is so fucking cool but I feel so bad because I thought this was an nsfw game. I swear I found it while looking for some? I don't remember. Regardless of that, I fucking LOVE the shmovement and how nicely it all flows together >:D
Thanks for trying the game out! I understand why it may be disappointing to not get exactly what you were expecting, but I'm had a good time regardless. Plus I'm sure you'll enjoy the sexiness that's in store for the future, even it's *not* NSFW content I still think there's room for appealing and attractive characters in SFW titles.
Game feels good for what little there is so far, movement feels fun and has a lot of promise going forward. Interested to see more from this project
Thanks for your support! I'm continuing development, so please check back in later for more updates.
Obrigado!
Thank you for trying it out! You really pushed the limits of the demo so far!
;D hope look lore story game ;D
I'm getting poor performance on both 32 and 64 bit versions. Tried windowed (with and without a program turning it into borderless fullscreen) and exclusive fullscreen. No dice. I don't have a beastly rig, but it should be enough to run smoothly. It's an AMD Radeon RX 6600 with 11th Gen Intel i5-11400F and 16gb RAM.
After a clean reboot my PC can kinda run the game well for a couple of minutes until frames drop to single digits.
EDIT: Okay, I think I figured out why. It's AMD's Relive conflicting. I had to run the game in exclusive fullscreen and disable desktop recording from AMD. Really good game, can't wait to see it in full.
Out of a completionist's morbid curiosity, what's the max score in this build? I got 19288 and I get the feeling I missed some kitsunes. lol
Thank you for the feedback. It's good to know what hardware might be suffering from performance issues.
My personal best score while testing the release build was 28,832; there are a few hidden kitsune for explorers to find.
I think you've got potential here! I do want to mention some issues I had.
The camera never felt right in the X axis, and the inability to change camera controls from the pause menu makes it feel like my changes aren't being saved...
The wall kick doesn't feel great; I think adding some more feedback to the movement would help. Either a wall slide or a hit effect (sound and/or visual) would help with that. (Also the tutorial for this is a little incorrect; you need to bounce from one wall to the other, not just run up! I think just two diagonal arrows could serve the same information)
But when it works, it works really well. The wall run section was my favorite, and I think you can really get the sense of speed. I love the visual effects of the fox spirits running alongside you.
I also liked the in-world tutorials. Again, the wall-run section is the highlight of the tutorial; given the player's already at high speed and pressing RB, simply telling them "okay now keep holding RB!" was a neat, rewarding way to discover that mechanic. (Although, I think you could carry it a step further; slope detection was off the second run-through, and it didn't feel like I was able to adjust my height very well.
Rail grind was a similar good experience, although I'd suggest change the color of the rail so it's more visible? I did have to fight the camera again here, though. Is it possible to have the camera auto-pan during moments like this?
Overall, it's a messy alpha, but I'm glad to see it! You've got the right ideas, keep trying!
Thank you for trying it out! I've been working on an update with many adjustments and improvements, so your feedback is very valuable.
I had problems with the controls, that don't respond well. Also, the game have many bugs with camera and movement (you can see that water is only a square without interior water, and you have problems running when you are in a climbing bar).
Thanks for your feedback! There are definitely still some places where you can peer behind the curtains of the game, which I will continue to work on improving.
im just staying for the sexy fox lady at this point. At first I ran this on an intel atom, and I was like "Of course it runs like shit". Then i ran it on a full pc with an i7 and 3060 and the game still didnt get higher than 30fps. Utter shit.
Thanks for trying it out! I'm always looking to try and improve the game's performance where I'm able to, so I appreciate you sharing which components might be experiencing performance issues.
Cool character and intriguing movement! Looking forward to seeing where this project goes in the future!
Thanks! I'm steadily working on improving it, so your support is much appreciated.
wait for version keybord.
